Dave Monsch was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. and raised in a very musical environment, as his parents were both musicians and educators. Dave began saxophone lessons at an early age, studying with Cy Hays, a well known saxophonist in the Pittsburgh area. Dave continued his studies through highschool and into college, which brought him down to Texas, where he attended the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. Playing big band music, small group jazz, funk bands, world music, and Avant Garde throughout college helped him develop his sound. After receiving his Bachelor's of Music/Jazz Performance, he worked on cruise ships, lived in New York City, and eventually relocated to Dallas where he started playing with a group called "Flipside". This was, and still is, a very important part of his musical path. Spending time as a studio musician and working on personal projects has been a very important aspect to Dave's musical growth. Having the opportunity to make music with so many exceptional musicians in the area has been a strong influence on him as a musician. Dave currently lives in Dallas, where he is actively involved in studio recording and performing.
